Installation Matters

Bently Nevada® services were enlisted by a large refinery to troubleshoot problems with 3300 Series Monitoring Systems on their reciprocating compressors. Although the systems had been supplied by Bently Nevada, they had not been installed by Bently Nevada. Our services personnel immediately identified numerous wiring problems with the installation and worked with the customer’s personnel to rectify the problems. Since that time, the customer has registered two “saves” on these machines – one on temperature-related problems and one on vibration-related problems – resulting in savings of close to $500,000. The customer has been so pleased with the results of the systems now that they are installed correctly, they are making plans to upgrade to 3500 Series hardware and System 1® software, which has advanced capabilities for monitoring the mechanical and thermodynamic health of reciprocating compressors.
